Chamber Music Experience:

Atlanta-based violist Dr. Kathryn Steely is an avid chamber musician, with performances ranging from the string quartet repertoire to collaborations with winds, harp and percussion. Performances include music festivals and conferences across the country.  Recent 2024 Centaur recording “Music for Flute, Viola, and Piano” highlights works by contemporary composers Sarah Gibson, Rachel Laurin, Eduardo Angulo, Gonzalo Garrida-Lecca, and Mira J. Spektor. As a member of the Brazos Ensemble, she has performed works for flute, viola and harp, from Debussy and Genzmer to Beamish and beyond. Additional chamber music collaborations with clarinet and percussion have included works by Rebecca Clarke, Libby Larsen, Michael Kimber, Baljinder Sehkon, Sarah Snider, and Paul Chiara.  She shares her love and enthusiasm for chamber music with students through coaching and teaching a popular String Chamber Music Literature course while on the faculty at Baylor University. She spent twenty-three years as a faculty member, performing, coaching, and mentoring at Credo Chamber Music Festival in Oberlin, Ohio.​
