Dr. Kathryn Steely is an enthusiastic mentor and cultivates an energetic viola studio where students acquire the analytical and artistic tools to develop their craft. Her students have been regularly accepted into the country’s leading conservatories and summer music festivals and are active in a variety of music professions, including as orchestral musicians, collegiate instructors, and in serving as public and private school orchestra directors. Additionally, they serve in leadership roles in the leading string music organizations in the country, including the American String Teachers Association and Texas Music Educators Association.

Dr. Steely has presented master classes and performances across the country, including several International Viola Congresses, American Viola Society Festivals, the Primrose International Viola Competition, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and American String Teachers Association conventions. She regularly serves as an adjudicator for festivals and competitions, including regional Young Artist competitions, the American Viola Society Solo competitions and the Primrose International Viola Competition.
